Summit Safety - Background

Summit Safety, Inc was founded in December 1999, by a team of engineers, firefighters and concerned business people as a direct result of the devastating Worcester, MA warehouse fire of 1999. As a result of the fire, six heroic firefighters had lost their lives in a valiant attempt to rescue two people they believed to be inside. We followed the news throughout that evening and into the following days when all six firefighters were finally laid to rest.

Summit was started with the express purpose of developing an advanced, technology-based system for firefighter rescue. This system is used by firefighters to find other firefighters in distress and to rapidly locate the exits from a structure. The technology, which is similar to sonar, is based on ultrasound and is easy to use.

Recent LODD (Line of Duty Deaths) for firefighters and other first responders have only reinforced the urgent need for locator systems. Summit is committed to developing tracking, accountability and early-warning, collapse-detection solutions using the most advanced fusion of technologies and tools available.

Summit specializes in integrating advanced sensor technologies into existing first responder equipment as well as standalone solutions for applicable domestic and international markets. As of today Summit has its Pathfinder™ locator system on thousands of firefighters across the globe.
