Finding a Downed Firefighter: The Options
Wayne C. Haase, Ph.D., Summit Safety, Inc.
When a Mayday is issued, critical time is often lost just trying to find the downed firefighter. This class will focus on the technologies and search methods that can be used to find the firefighter in the least amount of time. A comparison of visible, infrared, radio/GPS, acoustic, and ultrasonic technologies will be presented, with particular emphasis on search and rescue operations.
